Tiny things from the garden

As the weather cools, my garden has begun producing very small, adorable fruits and veggies: my one watermelon fit neatly within the palm of my hand. Also check out my tiny tomatoes and bell peppers. Adorable!

The first post

I should probably christen this spot on the internet by mentioning that I'm typically not the 'blogging' type: I see social networking and blog sites as ways to connect with the world, rather than update folks on the nitty-gritty of my everyday life. The desire to create this blog came from my recent focus on 'slowing down' and taking the time to appreciate the world around me. This is especially easy in the Fall, when crunchy leaves are bountiful and the air is crisp. I am hoping this can be a place where I can share some of the things I enjoy about Iowa and the other places I visit during the year. To start things off, here is a picture (admittedly from July, not September) of some lilies from my garden. My apartment smelled wonderful for days!
